Sound baths work to balance the nervous system by allowing the participant to rest in a safe and comfortable position and be emersed in random sounds and vibrations. The random nature recalibrates the nervous system, because it cannot predict or anticipate what comes next. Then the nervous system basically gives up trying to figure it out and surrenders to the relaxation response. This surrender is the key to the opening the deep calming feeling and allows muscles to relax and the listener to feel generally calmer and more present in their everyday life.
